15 ton overhead crane : Single girder vs. Double girder ?

Hook height (lift) is the issue.

Hook height is the primary distinction between single and double girder cranes (how far above the floor your hoist will lift). Double girder cranes have a higher hook height, usually 18-36 inches higher.

Because the hoist on a double girder crane is placed between the cross girders rather than under the cross girder, it can provide more lift.

Cost considerations

Single girder cranes are less expensive in several ways: only one cross girder is required, the trolley is simpler, freight is less expensive, installation is faster, and your runway beams are lighter due to the lower crane dead weight.
